Too Chic Sushi

Last weekend was my sister Nancy's 26th birthday. She planned an adult dinner to her favorite sushi restaurant. Since the rest of the adult family members are not too familiar with sushi or are not big fans, we all knew we were out of our comfort zone going to a sushi restaurant. Her sushi restaurant of choice was a restaurant in downtown Orlando--Shari Sushi Lounge. She did warn us that this was a hip restaurant but I would have never guessed how hip it was. The restaurant was more like a club than a restaurant. Maybe the name Lounge should have clued us in. One restaurant review described it by saying "Don't be surprised if you get an up-and-down glance from either the patrons or the proprietors at this latest hipper-than-thou joint". All of the people in the restaurant were between the ages of 20 and 30, very trendy, and drinking--- definitely not my family's typical scene and my parents were noticeably the oldest people there. The music was loud, the bar was right next to our table, and our waiter-fittingly named Antonio- resembled a male stripper complete with shirt halfway unbuttoned. The food was actually really good except I still do not care for sushi. We all did have a fun time laughing about how out of place we were and how we could not believe how the restaurant only attracted a very small demographic of people who we definitely do not really fit in with anymore if ever.

The next night we continued Nancy's birthday celebration with a family game night. The kids were happy to be included this night and enjoyed playing with each other. Callie however started feeling sick and had a fever that night which continued the rest of the weekend. On Monday, we found out that she had a double ear infection. She was also supposed to start her swim lessons Monday evening but luckily with a doctor's note I was able to postpone her swim class for two weeks.
For one of the family game night activities, we spiked Christopher's hair and gave Jack a mohawk. They LOVED it!

I love the new layout. My Rob loves Sushi . . . so far I can only handle the California rolls.

That is too funny. Love the halfway unbuttoned shirt. Reminds me of a lot of places here. Cute new design!
