4 Months Old

Nola turned 4 months old on New Year's Eve. She has started being more observant and enjoys watching the kids play. She also really likes playing with her hands and blankets. She still likes to be held a lot and does not really nap during the day. She has started laughing and smiling a lot more. She weighed 13 pounds at her 4 month checkup.

New Year's

We had a very relaxing New Year's Eve by not doing anything. My sister and my parents were over for the weekend and with all the nonstop activities over Christmas and in the previous days I was excited to have no plans. We watched "How to train your dragon" that we had from Netflix and roasted marshmallows and made smores. I accidentally fell asleep around 11pm when I laid down for a minute with Nola and woke up again a little after midnight but missed the countdown. None of the kids made it to 12 either. Callie asked to go to bed aroynd 9:30 and Jack tried to stay up but fell asleep on the couch just before midnight.

My birthday was on the day before New Year's Eve but the celebration stretched throughout the weekend. When my parents arrived the night before my birthday to celebrate with me, they both were not feeling well. Over the next few hours, they realized they had got food poisoning before they came to my house and spent my birthday in bed sick. So on my birthday, I went to out to lunch and shopping with my sister, Nancy and postponed my other birthday plans till my parents were feeling better. We finally finished the celebration with dinner out with my parents and both of my sisters and brownies and ice cream with everyone on New Year's day.

Christmas 2010

Jack got a bike, video games, science kits and a remote controlled hover disk thing that the boys played with all Christmas day.

Hudson loved unwrapping gifts and playing with all his new toys.
Callie loved the big dog Santa brought her.
She also got the Go-Go Walking Pup that she has been begging for from Grandma and Grandpa.
She couldn't wait to go outside and pretend to walk it like a real dog.

Rob made pancakes, bacon, and eggs for everyone for breakfast.
Nola enjoyed her first Christmas with lots of family members around to hold her and give her attention.

Christmas Eve

This year we hosted Christmas for my family. We spent Christmas Eve doing our annual talent show.
Jack played "Jingle Bells" on the piano.
He then played it again with cousin and uncle accompaniment.
Rob did magic tricks.
Hudson sang a very long and somewhat unending version of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". The only thing that ended the song is that he finally got distracted by a toy but he was a great performer and liked the attention.

Callie played "Jolly Old Saint Nicholas" on the piano and sang a duet with me of "Heat Miser".
We finished off the evening reading the story of the birth of Christ and acting out the Nativity.
The cousins enjoyed sleeping on the floor together that night and had a hard time going to sleep because they were excited for morning.

Counting down to Christmas

In keeping up with our annual tradition, the kids enjoyed opening their chocolate advent calendars each night before bed. Hudson enjoyed opening the little door each day but, since he does not like chocolate, the surprise inside was not appreciated. However, Jack and Callie liked taking turns eating his chocolate candy.

Jack sang in a Christmas program at school.

His class sang and danced to "Frosty the Snowman".

While Grandpa was in town for work, we took advantage of the extra set of hands and took the kids to see Santa Claus at Downtown Disney.

Hudson was a little apprehensive at first but warmed up towards the end. He also still has not stopped talking about sitting on Santa's lap.

Afterwards, we all got chocolate sundaes at Ghirardelli for dinner.

10 Years

On December 15, Rob and I celebrated our first decade of marriage. With Nola being so young(and also high maintenance), we were only able to sneak away for a few hours to go out to dinner at The Capital Grille. It was yummy but much more expensive than we expected but I guess a milestone anniversary is worth a little splurge. Grandma and Grandpa were great babysitters but glad we only celebrated with dinner because Nola gave them a hard time while we were gone.
