Summer

So Summer has officially begun and I am struggling to keep the kids busy(especially Jack). Jack tends to get bored easily and his favorite activity is teasing Callie which causes for a lot of sibling squabbles. So I try to keep the kids entertained so they don't kill each other and drive me crazy in the process. So far, Jack is doing swimming lessons and basketball but it is still not enough. It seems like we can not have one day at home without the kids finding themselves fighting and it is often too hot to send them outside to play. So I am still searching for ways to get the kids out of the house or have their friends over to play. Summer so far is turning into a workout keeping up my kids social calendar and getting them ready and out of the house every day. I thought summertime was a time when I could get projects done around the house, but I think I will have to wait till school starts up again.

Jack's Girl-friend

On Saturday night, we babysat the children of a fairly new family in the ward so they could go on a date night. Jack and the little girl, Maggie, who is a few months younger than Jack, hit it off instantly in Sunbeams. They always sit together and often walk to class hand in hand. It is funny to see this behavoir coming from them and without encouragement or urging from us. We have never even joked with Jack about a girlfriend or anything along those lines so it is funny to see that he is picking up on this all by himself. On Saturday, after they had played for 2 hours we turned on Snow White for the kids to watch. Jack and Maggie sat on the little couch together. Maggie told Jack that when the witch came on that he would have to put his arm around her. Jack proceeded to put his arm around her then and kept it there for the first 15 minutes of the movie. Rob and I were laughing about how grown-up they were acting. Well, Jack is way too young for a girlfriend but I guess we can allow for a girl-friend.
