First day of school teaser

Today was Jack's first day of Kindergarten technically. I say technically because they have canceled school for tomorrow and Wednesday and his second day will be on Thursday. That also means Callie who is attending preschool this year on Tuesday and Thursday will not start school till Thursday. They have canceled it due to the Tropical Storm that will impact some part of Florida on Tuesday. Maybe because I grew up in Florida or because we have lived here during the time when many large hurricanes came through our area, but a tropical storm isn't anything that really alarms me, the biggest threat is the possibility of tornadoes but that can happen with any storm. Growing up, I loved tropical storms because they always closed school but were never anything scary so it was just a free day off of school. I am not as happy about this surprise school vacation. I was so excited for Jack and Callie to start school this year. Not that I do not like spending time with my children, but since we have been homebodies this summer, I think the sibling spats and boredom were finally getting to them and me. So this is another reason why I am more worried about how I am going to entertain the kids for the next two days than I am about the weather. I was also eager to get back into a routine something I really have not had since probably before I was put on bedrest and to be able to run errands during the weekdays(something I really do not want to brave with three kids yet at least if I want it to be at all enjoyable and I miss Target).

Well, besides being a little anticlimactic, Jack seemed to have a very good first day. He looked so cute in his uniform and he seemed excited about his day even though he didn't give me too many details. It is hard to believe he is now going to Kindergarten. It doesn't seem that long ago when he was Hudson's age. Good luck this year Jack...which will resume again in 2 days!

What we have been up to

I am sorry for the lack of posts this past month. We have been busy but I have not had a lot of time to blog. Hudson has decided that he prefers to be held most of the time so the activities that are easier accomplished with two arms tend to be put on hold and typing is one such activity. However, I am getting better at doing a lot of things with one arm. To backtrack a little, the kids spent a fun week at Grandma's house in Tallahassee-going to Chuck E Cheese, playing outside....
Eating at Mcdonalds
At the movie theater to see Kung Foo Panda
Playing computer games and being spoiled in general.

The next week, Rob had most of the week off so we tried to do fun things as a family while he was off.

We went and played at the Lego store at Downtown Disney

Jack made his first purchase with his own money

We also took the kids bowling for the first time. Callie lost interest about half way through and kept wandering over to the arcade games. Jack enjoyed it and bowled for him and Callie.

Another day, we went to the splash park and then to dinner at CPK.

After dinner, the kids begged to go to the M&M store(which is also in the mall with CPK) and we let them pick out a few M&Ms.

After that week, Rob had to go back to work and I was left to face my first week alone with three kids. Some days were better than others:) I tried to take Hudson's first month pictures.

He was not happy about it
The pacifier helped a little

Hudson also had his 1 month doctor appointment(he was really almost 6 weeks) and he weighed 10lbs 8oz. He also has been rolling over from his stomach to back since 3 weeks and he just started smiling when you talk to him which we now think isn't just gas.

This past week, Rob's parents have been in town for Hudson's blessing(see previous post). Rob was able to take off one day and we went to the science museum in Tampa. Rob's parents are members of their science museum in Denver so we were able to get in free.

The dinosaur exhibit

Hudson was not as entertained by the dnosaurs
He preferred to watch from the stroller or to be held of course

Inside the Hurricane booth. Notice the wind in there was at 78mph.

The kids practicing surgery--Jack was very interested in the body area

More playing around the museum

Hudson's Blessing

On Sunday, we blessed Hudson in Sacrament meeting. Most of my family and Rob's parents were able to attend. After church, due to a grocery list oversight, we had a pancake dinner at our house for our families instead of the planned lasagna dinner but nobody seemed to mind.

Family who came to the blessing

I tried to get a good picture of Hudson on his blessing day but he didn't want to cooperate for too long and I have always thought that it is hard to take a good picture of my babies around this age. The pictures of them always end up looking a little funny until their about 3 months old but I included some fun ones anyway.
One of the only decent full body shots we took
A little stunned by the camera
